Can you really eat lucky charms and have abs?!

The answer is so simple..YES
For years bodybuilders, health enthusiasts and diet zealots were convinced the only way you could have a six pack was by ‘eating clean’
There has been all sorts of hot fad diet crazes over the years.. Keto, paleo, Atkins.. I really could go on and on.
First of all I want to go on record and say all of these diets will work but what is the one thing all of these diets when implemented in the right way? A calorie deficit.
So if all we need to do is be in a calorie deficit to lose weight why do we have to follow a ‘paleo plan’ to achieve this?! You can eat any foods you like as long as you are on a calorie deficit you will lose weight.
Things to consider..
1 Macro intake for specific goals
2 Micronutrient intake for health benefits
There is no such thing as ‘clean’ and ‘dirty’ foods, your body doesn’t think when you put a piece of cake in your mouth this is a dirty food and instantly make its way to your hips. All your body works out is it’s calorie and micronutrient content then uses it as energy to expend. So as long as your still in a calorie deficit you can eat the donut and still lose weight.. the donut suddenly doesn’t seem so bad.
Of course I’m not saying you should only eat lucky charms and donuts that really wouldn’t be great from a health stand point. Successful dieters mainly consume single ingredient foods. They typically are easier and more accurate to track plus they will keep you a lot more satiated but including some cake here and there will make the whole process a lot more enjoyable. It can also stop some of the negative sides that can come with restrictive diets like binge eating and disordered eating.
Studies over the years have shown how dieters who took the flexible approach are more successful not only for the short term but achieve long term results instead of yo-yo dieters who restrict themselves for months on end then once their diet phase is over can binge on all the foods that there was restricted on for months and re gain the weight they lost.
If you can successfully achieve your weight loss goals whilst eating foods you love then you take these principles into your normal life you can look good year round eating the foods you love and enjoy without any of the guilt and shame that typically come with these foods.
For me that’s a far more enjoyable way to live a long happy and FIT life
